QALONG with two other families we are looking for a villa in the Algarve which will sleep up to 12. We are hoping to fix something in August when the kids will be on holiday. Is there an agency specialising in large properties? - Dawn Petrie, email

ATHE Algarve is a very attractive spot for families as there are excellent beaches, good sporting facilities and eating out is not expensive. The Villa Agency (01273 747 811, www.thevillaagency.com) have a selection of beautiful villas on the Algarve which will suit your needs. For instance, they have a seven-bedroom Portuguese windmill/villa - Moinho do Zambujal - which is 15 minutes from Albufeira in a small village which sleeps up to 14. It has gorgeous country views, private gardens, a games room which is well stocked for kids and a private pool. Price for a week is pounds 3,983 which works out at pounds 332 per person. The Villa Agency can also book flights and car hire. Alternatively, you could book flights through Avro (0870 458 2847, www.avro.co.uk) for pounds 169 return in August.

QIT'S my girlfriend's birthday next week and I'd like to organise an unusual break and take her somewhere she hasn't been before. I would quite like to pop across to Holland or Germany. - Jim Davis, Colchester, Essex
