'Buying a property on the western Algarve was one of the best things

Author: Evening Standard (London)

FORMER Liverpool footballer John Aldridge and his wife Joan own a three-bedroom villa at a resort near Lagos on the western Algarve.

They bought the property four years ago from Oceanico, an Anglo- Irish developer with a string of schemes along the coast.

"It's one of the best things I've ever done," says John, a keen golfer who is investing in property in the area.

"We manage to visit four or five times a year, and we have two older children who come out by themselves."

Oceanico is soon to launch a new phase of homes at Meia Praia on the outskirts of Lagos. The development has a range of facilities, including a restaurant, tennis courts and swimming pools, and is within easy reach of the Palmares golf course. Two-bedroom homes will start at 162,500.
